{"id":5,"date":"2018-05-23T10:35:34","date_gmt":"2018-05-23T09:35:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/2019.lagos.wordcamp.org\/?p=5"},"modified":"2019-04-24T08:16:13","modified_gmt":"2019-04-24T07:16:13","slug":"call-for-speakers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lagos.wordcamp.org\/2019\/call-for-speakers\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Speakers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>The Call For Speakers Is Now Closed!<\/h1>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Are you ready to speak at WCLOS19?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We heard your wishes loud and clear for more development sessions in our community survey after last years&#8217; WordCamp.<\/p>\n<p>This year, we want to line up more <strong>technical development talks\/workshops.\u00a0<\/strong>However, this shouldn\u2019t discourage anyone who wants to apply with a different subject. We want quality talks that interest all types of WordPressers, so we are also looking for\u00a0<strong>Marketing<\/strong>, <strong>Business<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Blogging, Entrepreneurship<\/strong>\u00a0and anything else you believe will appeal to the WCLOS community.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage speaker applications from all over. Even if you are new to WordPress, tell us how you are making the web a better place. For more topic ideas, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpnigeria.org\/topic-ideas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">click here.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>How long should my presentation be?<\/h3>\n<p>This year, the event will take place over two days. <strong>Friday 10th May<\/strong> being the <strong>Beginners&#8217; day<\/strong>. For that, we are planning the following formats and will have <strong>two sessions run concurrently<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Regular Workshops<\/strong> &#8211; 60 to 90 minutes. 15 minutes for Q &amp; A included.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Extended Workshops<\/strong> &#8211; 90\u00a0 to 180 minutes, depending on how technical.\u00a015 minutes for Q &amp; A included.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Saturday May 11th will be the Main event day for everyone, talks and the Kids Camp (Age 8 &#8211; 17).\u00a0For that, we are planning the following format and will have only <strong>one session<\/strong> at a time.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Regular talks<\/strong> \u2013 35 minutes in total, breaking down to 25 mins for talk &amp; 10 mins for questions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lightning talks<\/strong> \u2013 10 minutes each, grouping related topics together.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Panel sessions<\/strong> &#8211; 60 minutes, breaking down to 45 minutes for discussions, 10 minutes for Q &amp;A.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There will be a 15 minutes space in between sessions to allow attendees switch tracks, grab a cup of coffee, and or network with other attendees.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday May 12th, the Contributor Day will hold from 12noon &#8211; 05. 00 pm.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to propose multiple topics, please submit the form multiple times, once for each topic.
